Well, yeah, we all know someone like that! And here’s why: according to CTIA, carriers reported a total of 1.5 !trillion! text messages sent during 2009. That breaks down to a whopping 5 billion texts per day.

***AT&T pacifies whiny 3G subscribers***
AT&T has taken steps to pacify whiny subscribers who just can’t stop complaining about the poor 3G reception in their homes. The 3G MicroCell – which will cost cell phone owners a cool $150 – is based on “femtocells,” or small cellular boxes that function much like Wi-Fi routers. When connected to a broadband modem, the MicroCell picks up signals from cellular devices and relays them through an existing Internet connection.

Marvell is showcasing a wide range of products powered by its Armada SoC lineup at CTIA 2010. The company’s SoCs can be found in a number of both high and low end devices, including Spring Design’s Alex dual-display e-book reader, Entourage Edge and a prototype tablet dubbed “Moby.” The Armada SoC is also expected to power numerous next-gen smartbooks and tablet PCs.

Clearwire CEO Bill Morrow told wide-eyed CTIA attendees that he has dreamed the impossible dream of merging both WiMax and Long Term Evolution (LTE) networks into a single, unified standard. Morrow also claimed that he had shared his wild vision with other industry heavyweights, such as China Mobile, Vodafone and Intel.

AT&T has decided to offer a tablet for the brave few who are unwilling or unable to submit themselves to Apple’s notoriously closed ecosystem. Yes, the OpenTablet 7 can be proudly carried by the Everyman, without fear of reprisal from snobby hipsters, aggressive yuppies and elitist academics. It offers easy access to social networking sites, instant messaging and e-mail. The OpenTablet 7 also features support for eBook reading, video and picture sharing.
***Bitbop offers Hulu addicts a temporary mobile fix***
The Fox Mobile Group has done its best to offer suffering Hulu addicts a temporary mobile fix with its Bitbop TV streaming app for iPhone, Android, and BlackBerry smartphones. Now we all know that Hulu doesn’t work with mobile browsers, so if you are willing to shell out a measly $10 a month, you can stream and download TV shows to your, er, smartphone’s content. Bitbop works over both 3G/WiFi from NBC Universal and Fox, with a number of shows currently available, such as NBC’s “30 Rock,” “The Office,” FX’s “Archer,” “Justified,” and TLC’s “Cake Boss.”
