Alcatel-Lucent and EADS Defence & Security announced they signed an agreement in principle to work together to develop a mobile solution for the U.S. public-safety market. The solution will be based on 4G LTE technology and on Project 25 standards.
Aruba Networks and RedSky Technologies announced a Wi-Fi-based emergency call location solution for campuses, branch offices and remote worker applications. The solution automatically locates Wi-Fi phones as they originate E911 calls.
Arxan Technologies, which provides software security solutions, said digital entertainment solutions provider Widevine has licensed its Application Hardening and Key Protection Solutions for its multiplatform digital rights management platform.
FiberTower Corp. was chosen by MetroPCS Communications Inc. to provide Ethernet-based backhaul services in some of the carrier’s markets. FiberTower’s solution includes fiber-based Ethernet services to cell sites and microwave extensions.
Mammoth Networks and Dash Carrier Services have teamed up to provide carriers wholesale bandwidth, network and voice services. Mammoth Networks is a facilities-based aggregator of fiber, data and circuits. Dash provides emergency and wholesale voice services.
Sensio Technologies Inc. said Aruna Media AG selected it as its main live 3D events technology partner for distribution of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa games.
Synchronoss is powering Dell Inc.’s Mobile Activation Center, which is designed to simplify the process of purchasing connected devices.
Telemundo said it entered a partnership with IDT Telecom to launch Telemundo-branded prepaid calling cards targeted at the U.S. Hispanic demographic. The cards will be offered at 7-Eleven stores nationwide and allow customers to make calls to Mexico and Latin America.
Telecom Transport Management Inc. selected Tellabs’ 7100 Optical Transport System to handle increased backhaul volumes in support of its offering to carriers migrating from TDM to Ethernet in select markets.
Synchronica plc announced it has received a purchase order from a West-African mobile phone service provider for its Mobile Gateway product, which will be offered to a major religious community in the region as a way to exchange messages on religious topics. Synchronica said its Mobile Gateway will be used to connect the community and keep them informed about religious news, teachings and other related topics.
