Movers and Shakers: Harbinger, KORE, Camiant and more

Omnilink Systems – Kelly Gay has been appointed president and CEO. Gay brings more than 25 years of experience working at numerous tech industry companies, including KnowledgeStorm, where she was chairman and CEO.

Harbinger Capital Partners – Sanjiv Ahuja has been named chairman and CEO of the company’s newly formed 4G-LTE wireless broadband company. Prior to joining Harbinger Capital Partners, Ahuja served as CEO of Orange, and founder of both Augere and Eaton Telecom.

KORE Telematics – Robert Metzler and Stein Soelberg have joined the KORE Telematics team, where they will act as executive vice president sales and marketing, and marketing director, respectively. Metzler comes to KORE from Qulacomm subsidiary Firethorn, where he held the role of senior vice president of retail and merchant services. Formerly, Soelberg was Cbeyond’s director of marketing communications.

Nexage – Ernie Cormier has been appointed CEO and president. Former CEO Devkumar Gandhi will remain a key presence at Nexage as founder.

PlayPhone – PlayPhone announced the addition of three veterans of the digital media industry to the company, with Chia-Lin Simmons as vice president of marketing, Ata Ivanov as vice president of engineering, and Richard Hancock as the chief commercial officer to EMEA.

Camiant – Camiant has opened its CALA (Caribbean and Latin America) branch in Mexico City, with further resources in Brazil. Luis Ramirez de Arellano has been named Latin America Regional Director. Previously, he was country manager at Starent Networks.

Omnifone – Jeff Hughes has assumed the role of CEO. Formerly, Hughes was executive vice president and CIO of BSkyB. Omnifone founder and CEO for the last six years, Rob Lewis, will become the full-time executive chairman for the company. Additionally, Matthew Bagley’s role as CFO has expanded to include business development responsibilities, wherein he will work with David O’Rourke, director of business development.

Wireless Communications Association International (WCAI) – Dr. Mohammad Shakouri, corporate vice president of innovation and marketing for Alvarion, has joined WCAI’s board of directors. Additionally, Dr. Shakouri serves as vice president of the WiMAX Forum and is a member of the WiMAX Forum’s board of directors. He is also on advisory board for the Wireless Communication Alliance.

Freewave Technologies – Angela Holt Chase has been named customer support manager. Chase brings more than 10 years of technical support experience to Freewave, having worked for such companies as Oracle, Celestica and BEA Systems.
