Google lets slip Gingerbread release time frame

Google lets slip Gingerbread release time frameWhile Google has been busy at the I/O conference gearing up to unveil Android’s much anticipated next release, codenamed Froyo, news has started filtering out about the next Android version in the pipeline.
In an FAQ for Google’s new WebM initiative, the search engine giant let slip that the next Android version – Gingerbread – is planned for release in Q4 2010.
Thus far the great Goog has released no other details about the upcoming Android version, so we’re still in the dark as to whether Gingerbread will be just another 2.x release or whether it may be the long rumored Android 3.0.
The only thing we know for sure is that Gingerbread will support WebM, but we are sure to find out more in the coming months.
In the meanwhile, all eyes are on Google today in eager anticipation of its Android 2.2 aka Froyo announcement at its annual I/O developer’s conference in San Francisco.
