They may be members of your family; they may be your tennis partners; they may be your closest friends; heck, you might be one of them yourself. They’re the chronically late, the relentlessly tardy and they’re everywhere.
A common way to try and combat this habit is to set one’s clock several minutes ahead. While it may seem like a good idea at first, usually since you know how many minutes ahead your timepiece is running, you end up compensating and you’re just as late as before. What’s a late person to do?
De La Plata Enterprises, the maker of a new app for BlackBerry, says it has the answer.
Its app is called Late Mate and for $2.99 it will essentially hack your phone’s time system by resetting it 0 – 10 minutes ahead. It can do this hourly, every other day, or anything in between and the trick is in the mystery: it never tells you whether your clock is actually ahead or by how much.
I’m not sure I would like never knowing the actual time, but maybe this simple little app could actually diminish dilatoriness. What do you think?
