Sequans Communications said WiMAX device developer Accton Wireless Broadband has chosen Sequans’ chips for several of its new WiMAX products, including an advanced USB dongle and two integrated access devices. Sequans also announced an agreement with Huawei to provide chips for WiMAX USB dongles, modems and customer premises equipment.

The GSMA announced seven new grants from the Mobile Money for the Unbanked Fund, which is administered by the GSMA Foundation. New grantees were Cellcard in Cambodia, Digicell in Fiji, Orange in West Africa, Safaricom in Kenya, Tata Indicom in India, Telenor in Pakistan and Tigo in Africa.

Openwave Systems Inc.‘s Openwave Passport service is a finalist in the Meffys Mobile Entertainment Awards in the innovative business model category. The service allows carriers to offer pay-as-you-consume Web browsing plans and dynamic promotion of new service tarrifs at the point of interest, said the company. The Meffys awards recognize influential mobile media players.

Kenyan operator Safaricom has chosen Syniverse‘s roaming, messaging and network solutions to enhance the carrier’s roaming operations and fraud prevention.

Yap said Phone.com selected it to provide automated voicemail-to-text services.

Navy Federal Credit Union and EffectiveUI released a mobile banking application for iPhone and iPod touch users. The app gives the bank’s users access to a variety of financial and account information, including alerts when interest rates change, as well as help finding nearby branches and ATMs and a variety of tools to help users manage their accounts.

Vodafone announced the winner of its Vodafone AppStar competition. FlickrShow was the top prize winner according to a public vote, and developer Pedro Campos was awarded the 100,000 Euro prize. The application allows users to access Flickr to create slide shows and search photos by keyword, username, color and location using GPS technology.

Meru Networks Inc. announced plans to offer a suite of wired and wireless management, spectrum analysis, and security and compliance services for wireless local area networks. The tools will be integrated into the company’s Service Assurance Platform.

Aricent announced its Broad Daylight product development program, which is designed for small and mid-sized telecom equipment manufacturers. The program helps companies accelerate their entry into markets such as LTE, home networking, data center Ethernet and cloud computing, said the company. The program includes technology consulting, product design, pre-packaged software frameworks and comprehensive product development services.

Newport Digital Technologies Inc. and Ingram Micro Data Capture‘s POS division have developed a co-marketing campaign to introduce the N37B ruggedized mobile computing device solution to Ingram Micro’s value-added reseller channel. The campaign includes internal sales and VAR reseller engagement activities.

Daktel Communcations said it has deployed Nokia Siemens Networks‘ new IPTV platform, which allows it to create personalized video viewing experiences for its customers.

Mobile marketing software company Adenyo signed a licensing agreement with InferSystems Corp. for its Generation5 predictive analytics engine. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
