LG launches 10 phones at Korea’s IT World Show

At Korea’s IT World Show, recently, smartphones were taking centre stage.
LG occupied two large stalls spread across the middle of the expo, taking up a large proportion of its stage to show off no less than six new feature phones and four new smartphones, giving the competition a run for its money.

In the Optimus range LG is touting the Optimus Z and Optimus Q, wisely named – according to the helpful rep – to emphasise the phone’s ability to “optimise the Korean lifestyle”.
Both phones run the Android operating system and come fully loaded with apps, giving users an optimus [optimal] experience right from the word go.
The home-grown Korean apps offer a truly impressive service. Users can scan images to their phone and instantly retrieve information from the image, such as book information and prices, for instance.
With Optimus Z boasting a full touch screen and a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, our interviewee confesses that he will be trading in his iphone and getting LG optimised. Then again, he’s an LG rep on camera, so we’ll take that with a grain of salt.
LG’s hero product- the Optimus Q –is also reportedly faster than previous LG smartphones, and the firm says users can now scan by manipulating a track ball, offering more control and speed.
Targeting consumers more interested in feature phones, LG has combined its technology with Iriver’s MP3 know-how, to create a feature phone focused on music.
With a 2.8 inch OLED screen, Dolby’s surround sound mobile system, three megapixel camera, and a digital tuner, this phone offers an even lighter alternative to the smartphone.
Even if phones aren’t your bag, there was still plenty to see at the LG booth, amongst the hustle and bustle on the floor. Visitors eager to try out the new phones mingled with LG break-dancers and a dancing green smartphone man who entertained the crowd – literally with a song and dance.
