SouthernLINC Wireless launches unlimited offering

Regional iDEN provider SouthernLINC Wireless unveiled a no-contract, unlimited service plan for $50 per month.
The carrier said the offering includes unlimited access to its cellular minutes, text messaging, iDEN-based push-to-talk service and Web browsing. Also included in the plan are nationwide long distance, basic voice mail, directory assistance, caller ID, call waiting, call forwarding, call hold, three-way calling, and access to ring tones, wallpapers and other downloads. The carrier plans to add its picture messaging service to the offering beginning next month.
The carrier did note that the nationwide long distance and other unlimited services are only available within its regional calling areas.
The price matches similar offerings from a number of both regional and nationwide rivals including Sprint Nextel Corp.’s Boost Mobile service that originally kicked off its $50 per month, unlimited offering in early 2009 using its nationwide iDEN network. The carrier has since expanded the service to include its CDMA network.
SouthernLINC Wireless last month was the first domestic iDEN operator to launch a smartphone powered by Google Inc.’s Android operating system. Boost Mobile is expected to begin offering the device later this month.
