Bharti Airtel gives social networking a voice through its blog

India’s Bharti Airtel today gave social networking a voice with the official unveiling of Airtel Blog – which it describes as a “unique voice-blogging service.”
Nearly two Million users – including a host of Indian celebrities- are claimed to have already experienced Airtel’s blog in the first three months since its launch – making it the world’s fastest growing voice-oriented social networking service.
Airtel boasts it has brought the power of social networking on voice to its mobile customers – where they can share recorded voice updates with their followers – fans, friends or family.
“Perhaps one of our fastest growing Value Added Services in our stable in recent times, Airtel Blog is taking the concept of micro-blogging to an entirely new level,” said Atul Bindal, President-Mobile Services, Bharti Airtel.
“As a nation, we love to verbalize and reach out to our social network of friends, families or pursued interests and Airtel Blog enables this added intimacy on the customer’s mobile phone. Some have called Airtel Blog ‘Twitter with a voice’ but we are simply calling it a game changer.”
Celebrities across India, are already building their voice-blog follower base including, but not limited to, Amitabh Bachchan, Arshad Warsi, Lara Dutta, Neetu Chandra, VJ Ranvijay and Sonu Nigam. They are using their Airtel Blog to share voice updates to reach out to their fans, who receive SMS updates of the posts. Fans can then dial-in at their convenience to listen to the voice blog.

To launch a voice-blog (free), just dial *7* and follow the prompts.
When status updates are recorded, followers will receive free SMS notifications, and will be prompted to dial *2* to listen to the updates in their Airtel Blog inbox.
