Alliances: NetMotion teams with Sierra; AT&T targets utilities; and more

NetMotion Wireless, which provides mobile productivity and management software, and Sierra Wireless (SWIR) announced a joint marketing agreement to deliver a solution that keeps mobile workers connected. The agreement formalizes an existing collaboration that has already produced solutions for a variety of public safety and field service clients.
AT&T (T) said it signed an agreement that allows it to offer Current Group‘s Smart Grid Distribution Solutions, which combined with AT&T’s mobile broadband network will help utilities increase grid efficiency and system capacity by managing demand dynamically and reducing power delivery losses. Current’s solutions include intelligent sensors and analytical software, OpenGrid utility element management system, and System Optimization and Reliability analytical software solutions.
Synchronica, which provides mobile e-mail, instant messaging and data synchronization, said it signed an agreement with a device manufacturer that focuses on emerging markets to bundle its mobile gateway solution with the manufacturer’s handsets. The deal is valued at $1.28 million.
Vodafone (VOD) and WIN plc, which provides interactive information and entertainment solutions for mobile phones, announced they have teamed up to improve Vodafone’s services to MVNOs. The project includes new customer acquisition and support as well as helping to increase ARPU by simplifying Internet set up and picture messaging services for customers.
WiCON, a wireless dealer association and buyer consortium, announced it has partnered with Sprint Nextel master agent ProStar Wireless Group and Top Up Solutions. The deal allows ProStar and Top Up dealers to be eligible to join the WiCON Network to receive deals on wireless device products and business services, including wireless ancillary products, warranty exchange, trade-in programs, point of sale software, insurance and other solutions.
TeliaSonera selected SmartTrust as its partner for over-the-air management of machine-to-machine solutions. The deal allows TeliaSonera to manage SIMs, devices and applications.
WiSpry Inc., which makes tunable radio-frequency semiconductor products, said it is working with IBM (IBM) to develop MEMS process technology and manufacture its tunable RF product roadmap. The development includes WiSpry’s current generation of tunable impedance matching products and future generations of highly integrated products for the mobile front-end.
Sequans Communications chose Azimuth Systems‘ ACE MX MIMO channel emulator for testing LTE and WiMAX chipsets.
Thai mobile operator TrueMove will use Neuralitic Systems‘ SevenFlow software suite to perform mobile data analytics on its subscriber base to improve its understanding of user behavior and trends and to strengthen its marketing and competitive position in the Thai market.
Brightpoint Inc. (CELL) said it expanded its relationship with 3 Scandinavia to include supply chain solution services in Sweden. The company currently provides supply chain solution services to 3 Scandinavia in Denmark.
Option (OPNVY) said it is collaborating with Qualcomm (QCOM) to develop customized global embedded connectivity solutions based on the new Gobi 3000 platform. Solutions based on the platform will include full size PCIe mini-cards for laptops, half-size PCIe mini-cards for small laptops, and ultrathin LGA modules for consumer devices and machine-to-machine applications.
