Motorola delays Android upgrades to Q3

.
Bad news for owners of Motorola’s Cliq and Cliq XT phones, as the firm announced the expected upgrade to Android 2.1 today would be further delayed.

Customers were told of the delay via forum post with the excuse Motorola was still struggling to give customers the “best possible user experience,” obviously reasoning that being several generations of Android software behind is better than nothing.
It is being reported that the upgrade will only eventually see the light of day in several weeks’ time, pushing it out to Q3.
Indeed, Motorola has something of a reputation for leaving its customers in the Android lurch – other devices with old Android software are listed on the firm’s website with “upgrade under evaluation” status, implying Motorola doesn’t even know whether it will bother upgrading them.
It isn’t the first time Motorola has delayed upgrades it had promised to deliver on time, but Cliq users may be grateful the firm is doing its due diligence and ensuring the upgrade is stable before pushing it out, which wasn’t the case last time around.
