Motorola is trying to ‘charm’ its way into consumer hearts with its new Blackberry look-alike Android device. The much rumored Motorola Charm has now been confirmed and legitimized by the firm itself, and will be sold exclusively through T-Mobile in the US this summer.
Running Android 2.1 with a layer of Motoblur on top, the 2.8 inch touch screen device with a “BACKTRACK” navigation pad on the phone’s rear also comes with a three MP camera and full QWERTY keyboard.
“The BACKTRACK navigation pad, located on the back of the smartphone directly behind the home screen, is similar to a laptop touch panel and enables an unobstructed view of the Web, texts, e-mails and news feeds,” writes Motorola in a press release.
Additional features Motorola CHARM is touting on the charm include Adobe Flash enabled web browsing, a full suite of Google services – Google Search, Google Maps, Gmail – and access to the Android Market. All of which is rather bog standard on an Android.
Motorola says the charm also features pinch to zoom functionality and two-finger swipe, as well as some bundled Kodak software for picture editing.
Of course, all the social media your narcissistic little heart desires is also included, with Facebook, MySpace, Picasa, PhotoBucket, Twitter and co being fully integrated. But it’s not all social-notworking. Motorola promises it will also push your corporate email directly to your device for instant inbox updates from the boss.
Charming indeed.
