There are many ways to disguise a gift: Put the gift in a larger box, add objects to change the weight or tape obscurely shaped items to the gift to keep the recipient guessing.
If all that seems too time consuming, you could just coat the gift with a thick layer of milk chocolate, et voila! No one will ever suspect it is anything other than an edible treat.
This is exactly what Stefan Magdalinski from South Africa decided to do for his Apple fanatic wife on her birthday, surprising her with a tasty iPad and creating the world’s first chocolate Apple.
Stefan’s friend Paul Young who owns a chocolate shop in London agreed to assist him in the attempt to melt his wife’s heart.
One long flight and two kilos of chocolate later, he returned home with the concealed device intact under numerous layers of food packaging to protect it, ribbons and chocolate.
Although the cost of covering the iPad was a little pricy – a bittersweet 75 pounds sterling ($113) -, many others seem desperate to dip their devices too.
Since Stephan’s sweet gesture, Paul has been overwhelmed with customers wanting to follow in his footsteps, and his store has been chockablock with people requesting to cover mobile phones, laptops and iPods to make their own chocology gift.
We suppose this sort of negates the old mantra of “an Apple a day,” seeing as dentists must be rubbing their hands together with glee.
