Alliances: Ericsson wins China Mobile deal; HealthPartners licenses Diversinet platform; and more

China Mobile chose Ericsson (ERIC) as a sole managed services partner for its 2G/3G base station sites under a three-year field maintenance agreement.
Gemalto said it has partnered with KASIKORNBANK and operator Advanced Info Services to launch Near-Field Communication applications in Thailand. Gemalto is providing its Trusted Services Management service to support the launch.
NII Holdings (NIHD), which provides Nextel-branded service in Latin America, announced an agreement with Intelfon SA de CV in El Salvador to extend their International Direct Connect service. The deal allows Nextel and Intelfon subscribers to communicate instantly.
Diversinet Corp. said HealthPartners has licensed its MobiSecure Health platform to enhance mobile communications with its subscribers. The renewable multiyear agreement calls for HealthPartners to use Diversinet’s platform to support applications that build upon the company’s mobile portfolio, including programs that allow subscribers to communicate with providers via two-way messaging.
Cinterion Wireless Modules and Airo Wireless announced plans to collaborate on the Airo A25is, which is a ruggedized cell phone certified for use in explosive, hazardous environments such as oil rigs and manufacturing plants. The product uses Cinterion’s MC75i Evolution Platform module.
Mogreet and Oddcast announced a partnership to combine Oddcast’s personalized talking avatars with Mogreet’s MMS marketing and messaging platform to provide online viral marketing programs tuned for the mobile channel. E*TRADE Financial is the first customer for the new technology. The company is introducing its BabyMail talking baby avatars to mobile audiences.
MTN Group and Arieso, which provides location-aware network management solutions, signed a framework agreement that makes Arieso the preferred supplier of software and systems for subscriber-centric network design, planning and optimization for MTN Group. The agreement calls for all 21 of MTN’s operating companies to be able to use Aireso’s mobile network planning and optimization solutions to manage and improve their 2G and 3G networks.
Adtran Inc. (ADTN) said its Total Access 5000 Multi-Service Access and Aggregation Platform and NetVanta 800 Series network termination products have been chosen by Covad for carrier Ethernet service delivery.
GoSolarUSA (GSLO) said it signed an agreement with PREE to jointly develop and market a new PREE product line. PREE’s product converts inbound wireless LAN waves and solar energy into an electrical charge that can power a smartphone.
The International Function Point Users Group said it established a formal partnership with TM Forum, which focuses on establishing best-in-class IT for service providers and communications, media and cloud service markets. The relationship between the two organizations will provide improved analytical frameworks and opportunities for gains in efficiency, said the groups.
