It seems Samsung is thriving on the free colonial spirit with yet another phone giveaway to tempt punters away from the iPhone. Bell Canada announced this morning that it too would be doling out free phones – in this case the Android based Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant – to customers in advance of the August 6th Canadian launch date.
On Friday, Unplugged discovered Samsung’s UK division was handing out free Galaxy S superphones to dissatisfied iPhone 4 customers, although the US division later told us it had no plans to follow suite.
While Canada certainly seems to be acting more generously, Bell is hardly digging deep for this little marketing coup, offering only one smartphone a day to Canuck customers who sign up on the firm’s site.
And if the thought of a free Galaxy S is not enough to woo the Canadian crowds, Bell is also offering a raffle of Lady Gaga tickets and a 55 inch TV to customers who line up to buy the Galaxy S on launch day.
In the words of Gaga herself, “My telephone, m-m-my telephone…”
