Korea's KT winning the Wi-Fi race

“If you’re not fast you’re last”
Korea’s KT telecom has taken the above words to heart in its recent establishment of 27,000 new Wi-Fi zones throughout the country, clearly marking its territory before other telcos like main rival SK telecom can even say “Wi-Fi.”
Faced with a rapidly growing Smartphone customer base, KT didn’t waste a second making sure its network was up, running and ready to use in Qook and Show zones across the country.
The Smartphone rage sweeping the country has left telcos pregnant with procedures to  capitalize on the hard earned cash of the increasing number of mobile phone users hooking up to the internet across Seoul and other main cities in S. Korea.
However, it was KT that succeeded first, prematurely giving birth to thousands of Wi-Fi hot spots five months before originally planned, living by the motto that it’s ‘the early bird that catches the Wi-Fi.”
The Telco giant has not stopped there and has thoroughly covered all grounds at home and abroad. Having recently signed an agreement with Boingo giving customers further access to 125,000 hot spots worldwide
Vice president for the roaming department at KT said “Given the ubiquity and quality of Boingo’s global network, as well as the simplicity of one-click access via the Boingo software, this partnership brings exceptional value to KT customers.”
