The Federal Communications Commission is expected to address rules to ease wireless backhaul deployments at its meeting tomorrow. The Notice of Proposed Rulemaking and Notice of Inquiry are part of the agency’s plan to enable more broadband deployments across the nation.
The commission also will address rules that govern how mobile phones are compatible with people who have hearing loss.
“Currently, access by service providers to poles can be slow, costly, and mired in long disputes,” the FCC said when it announced the agenda for tomorrow’s meeting. “The National Broadband Plan recognized that one way to lower the costs of telecommunications, cable and broadband deployment and promote competition is to reduce the cost of access to infrastructure.”
