ChaCha Search Inc. scored a major studio win today under a new deal with NBC Universal Digital Studio. The company, which takes a unique approach to mobile search, has landed a role as the answers service provider for the studio’s recently launched original series “FCU: Fact Checker’s Unit.”
Based on a short film by the same title, “FCU: Fact Checker’s Unit” provides a seemingly ideal branded entertainment relationship for ChaCha. The show follows two overzealous fact checkers who are digging into a selection of articles to be published by a magazine. Through ChaCha’s participation, viewers and fans can join in by submitting their own answers to ChaCha and signing up for the show’s mobile alerts. The ChaCha portal on the show site will carry a live feed of fact-checking questions.
The show will be available at www.factcheckersunit.com, on iTunes and all major on-demand services and mobile platforms in the United States. The eight-episode short form series is also set to premiere on the digital platforms of Syfy in the United Kingdom, Syfy Universal throughout Asia and The Syfy Channel in Australia.
“Viewers are constantly looking for ways to engage with our shows’ content and talent in new and unique ways. Providing viewers with the chance to get their own facts checked in real-time by ChaCha’s expert Guides provides a first-of-its-kind experience as millions of viewers immerse themselves deeper into the FCU storyline,” said Cameron Death, SVP and GM of NBC Universal Digital Studio.
“ChaCha has grown to be the ‘smart friend’ people turn to for all their answers, about anything,” ChaCha’s CEO Scott Jones said. “Powered by over 50,000 people called ‘guides,’ we are able to deliver superior answer quality and response times. This new show from NBCU was an ideal opportunity to leverage our fun content and clever answers from our guides for this creative comedy show launch… We are thrilled to be part of NBCU’s web series as another way to showcase that we have become America’s number one way to find answers for anything. Plus it’s a hell of a funny show.”
