Motorola Inc.‘s (MOT) Motorola Solutions business and Ericsson (ERIC) teamed up to introduce an LTE-based solution for public-safety mobile broadband networks. The solution combines Motorola’s public-safety optimized LTE core and interoperability platform with Ericsson’s LTE access equipment as well as its packet core and related services. The solution will be used in Motorola’s advanced devices, video security and command and control solutions to provide situational collaboration and situational awareness.
Vlingo Corp. announced a partnership with Foursquare to create a new feature for Android users that allows customers to use Foursquare by simply speaking into their phone. The integration between Vlingo and Foursquare allows Vlingo users to speak into their phone to check in, connect with friends or shout out an update on foursquare.
China Telecom Americas said it established connections with CENX, which operates a Carrier Ethernet exchange. The connection allows China Telecom Americas and parent company China Telecom to provide services to and from its base of end-users. The initial connections are in CENX’s New York and Los Angeles exchanges.
Mobile messaging services provider Synchronica plc said it has been chosen by Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad, the incumbent telecom services provider in Costa Rica, to help it launch its mass-market push e-mail service based on Synchronica’s Mobile Gateway middleware.
BroadHop Inc., which provides policy management and control solutions for service providers, said it won contracts with four international service providers for its Quantum Network Suite. The product is an open and virtualized policy management platform for next-generation mobile data, intelligent broadband and application delivery. The customers include carriers in France, India, Malaysia and Saudi Arabia.
China Mobile Shaanxi selected Juniper Networks to upgrade its Internet data center with its New Network based on the Junos operating system. The deployment includes Juniper’s routers, switches and security solutions.
IDEXX Laboratories has chosen NetMotion Wireless‘ Virtual Private Network solution, Mobility XE, to improve the performance of hundreds of mobile workers for accessing wireless data and applications. IDEXX Labs provides diagnostics and information technology solutions for veterinary practices.
