AT&T Mobility unveils no-contract mobile broadband plans, new laptops

AT&T Mobility (T) furthered its no-contract offerings by unveiling a pay-as-you-go mobile broadband plan and a trio of new laptop computers with embedded wireless modems.
The new rate plans begin at $15 for a day pass that includes 100 megabytes of data transmission, ramps up to $30 for a week pass that includes 300 MB and top out at $50 for a month pass that includes 1 gigabyte of data transmission.
The new plans join the carrier’s contract offerings that provide 200 MB of data transmission for $35 per month or 5 GB for $60 per month.
As for the new devices, AT&T Mobility is now offering the Acer Aspire AS1830 Notebook, the Acer Aspire One 532h Netbook and the Dell Inspiron Mini 10 HD netbook. Pricing for the devices varies as to whether a customer chooses to sign a two-year contract for mobile data services or selects the carrier’s new prepaid offering. The Aspire One 532h Netbook runs $40 with a two-year agreement, or $450 without a contract.
AT&T Mobility also unveiled its Quick Start service that provides technical support in helping customers set up, synchronize and customize their netbooks, smart phones, wireless modem cards or 3G Microcell devices. The ConnecTech Quick Start service is available for purchase in AT&T stores starting at $49.
