Partnerships: Verizon partners with Bug Labs; AdMarvel to support Crisp ads; and more

Verizon Wireless and Bug Labs announced they formed a strategic relationship that will allow product designers, software engineers and others to build and program wireless devices to be used on Verizon’s network. The carrier said devices that use the Verizon-approved Bug Labs’ modules and connect to its network via pre-approved cards and modems do not need to be tested by Verizon before they can be activated on the network. The BUG platform is a collection of discrete hardware modules, 3G modems and associated software that can be combined to create new devices, said the companies.
Crisp Wireless, a universal rich media ad platform provider, and AdMarvel, which provides mobile advertising services, have partnered to bring Crisp’s ads to AdMarvel’s customers. AdMarvel said it is able to deliver Crisp’s ads to smartphones and tablets, and advertisers will be able to create cross-platform campaigns and rich ad formats.
Ubidyne, an antenna embedded radio technology company, and Symena, which supplies automatic cell planning tools, entered a partnership to enable wireless networks to dynamically adapt to changes in network traffic patterns. Capabilities of Ubidyne’s product include vertical sectorization, dynamic beam pattern control, SISO/MIMO selectivity and per-carrier tilt control. Symena’s Capesso ACP tool finds the best values for these parameters to maximize the value delivered by the Active Antenna solution, said the companies.
Capgemini said its Outsourcing Services SAS subsidiary won a long-term contract from Nokia Siemens Networks that calls for Capgemini to provide order management services to NSN. The deal includes preparation for delivery, customer order management, distribution and customer invoicing.
CounterPath Corp. and Metaswitch Networks entered a strategic long-term agreement that includes the joint development and marketing of enhanced unified communications capabilities that extend voice, video and messaging services to desktop PCs and mobile devices.
Bling Nation and VeriFone Systems Inc. have partnered to support an introductory mobile payments program in Palo Alto, Calif. The program makes use of VeriFone’s payment solutions and gives users the ability to pay for purchases using a “BlingTag” at the physical point of sale using contactless technology. The program allows customers to use alternative payment methods like PayPal and direct debit to pay for merchandise.
