Telus announced a multi-year strategic agreement with Sierra Wireless that calls for Sierra to provide machine-to-machine services management for the carrier. Telus will integrate the Sierra Wireless AirVantage Services Platform into its network operations to provide M2M customers with online access to M2M service creation, delivery and management capabilities.
Wind River announced it is working with Alcatel-Lucent to develop common platform assets for Alcatel-Lucent’s wireless network base station portfolio. ALU will use Wind River Linux to develop and support the common platform.
NTT DoCoMo Inc. and Pioneer Corp. announced a collaborative agreement to allow smartphones to function as navigation devices compatible with the docomo Drive Net navigation service in Japan. Commercial operation is expected early next year. The agreement calls for Pioneer to develop a wireless car-navigation application for smartphones. The company also will develop an in-car cradle to allow smartphones to provide positional information.
Photobucket chose Simplexity to build and manage its wireless storefront, which features cell phones, service and accessories. All phones purchased at the site will ship with Photobucket’s mobile application, which simplifies uploading, sharing and browsing of photos and videos.
Jawbone and Cisco jointly announced a wireless headset designed for the enterprise market. The Jawbone ICON for Cisco Bluetooth Headset bridges mobile phones and IP phones in a way that is transparent to the users, said the companies.
Alltel Wireless selected Scorecard Systems to provide subscriber and revenue/usage reporting and a commission calculation solution.
TMNG Global and Scientia Advisors announced a partnership to offer strategic consulting services for the home health sector. Scientia Advisors estimates the home health market will reach $250 billion by 2014. The firms said the goal of the partnership is to advise health care, telecom and technology clients on viable home health solutions.
