Patton Boggs L.L.P. expanded its Technology and Communications practice by adding three new partners in its Washington office. The new partners are Matthew B. Berry, Monica S. Desai and Robert E. Quicksilver. Berry previously served as general counsel and deputy general counsel of the Federal Communications Commission. Desai also held senior level positions at the FCC, including serving as chief of the media bureau, chief of the consumer and governmental affairs bureau and deputy chief of the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau. Quicksilver’s experience includes law, policy and business positions at Yahoo!, president of network distribution and lobbyist at FOX Broadcasting Co. and general counsel at Sinclair Broadcast Group and River City Broadcasting.
The Symbian Foundation announced Lee M. Williams stepped down as executive director for personal reasons. The board of directors appointed Tim Holbrow, formerly CFO of the Symbian Foundation to the executive director position.
NeoMedia Technologies Inc. appointed Laura Marriott acting chief executive officer and chairperson of the board of directors, replacing Iain McCready, who recently stepped down. Marriott most recently was acting chief marketing officer and board member. She also served as president of the Mobile Marketing Association.
Johnie Johnson, chief executive officer of Nex-Tech Wireless, was named to the 2011 board of directors of CTIA. Johnson joined Nex-Tech during the company’s 2005 launch.
PlayPhone Inc. named Anders Evju senior vice president and general manager of its new mobile social gaming business unit. Evju co-founded the U.S. division of mobile gaming company I-play in 2000 and became senior vice president of Oberon Media after the company acquired I-play in 2007.
