GreatCall Inc., which offers mobile service through its Jitterbug brand targeting customers looking for easy-to-use phones, launched a new unlimited rate plan that provides for unlimited calling, messaging, data services and the company’s unique extras for $80 per month without a contract.
The new plan, dubbed Simply Unlimited, differentiates itself from other unlimited plans by offering the company’s GreatCall Operator Service that is designed to help people with programming and setting up their mobile device, as well as access to a handful of applications targeting a more mature audience like health tips, access to healthcare services and medication reminders.
The company does note in the fine print that the “unlimited” aspect of the service does not mean “unreasonable,” adding “If your usage is unreasonable, we may, at our option, terminate your service or change your plan to one with no unlimited usage components. We will provide notice if we intend to take any of the above actions, and you may terminate your service prior to the change.”
The company previously offered 1,000 anytime and 500 night and weekend calling minutes for $80 per month. The company last year began offering service running across Verizon Wireless’ network.
Unreasonable data usage should not be a problem as the company’s device lineup currently consists of a Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. model specifically designed for the carrier that includes a large keypad and plenty of volume as well as standard Samsung bar phone. No smart phones or QWERTY keyboards here.
In addition to the unlimited offering, GreatCall also unveiled a $40 per month plan that includes 400 anytime calling minutes, unlimited night and weekend calling beginning at 7 pm, unlimited data service and access to the carrier’s health applications. The carrier continues to offer its Basic 19 and Basic 14 plans that provide 100 anytime calling minutes for $20 per month and 50 anytime calling minutes for $15 per month, respectively.
