AT&T announced a global strategic relationship with advertising and marketing communications firm Omnicom. The agreement includes a contract valued at $57 million. The companies said as part of their new relationship they are exploring the delivery and deployment of AT&T applications, mobility and cloud-based solutions globally for Omnicom.
CellTrust Corp. announced a partnership with NewNet that will allow mobile operators to integrate CellTrust’s SecureSMS Appliance with NewNet’s SMSC platform to deliver a complete SMS solution to wireless subscribers.
NPX Semiconductors N.V. and Gemalto announced a global strategic licensing agreement that allows Gemalto to integrate NXP’s MIFARE technology into its UICC cards. The cooperation between the companies is aimed at encouraging usage of near field communications mobile devices in the MIFARE infrastructure. The agreement allows Gemalto to add the MIFARE DESFire and MIFARE Plus technology to its UICC security solutions.
Vringo Inc. said it signed an agreement with Turner Broadcasting in the United Kingdom to license its Adult Swim content. Vringo will use the content to create video ringtones from popular Adult Swim television shows, including Robot Chicken, Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Metalocalypse.
Synchronica said it received an order valued at $975,000 for additional Mobile Gateway licenses from a tier-one pan-African mobile operator group. The order expands on a pilot installation and professional services contract announced in October that was valued at $752,000. Synchronica also said a large mobile device manufacturer has placed an order to certify and license its IMPS instant messaging client.
Motorola Inc.‘s Solutions business unit entered an agreement with Kopin Corp. that calls for the companies to develop a hands-free computer and communications headset. The headset will incorporate full voice, audio and PC capabilities and use Kopin’s advanced system and microdisplay technologies to create a virtual 15-inch monitor that supports simulation software, streaming video on-demand and other large-screen enterprise applications, said the companies.
Verizon Wireless and XATA Corp. have teamed up to offer Verizon’s enterprise customers XATA’s fleet management tools. The solution is designed to help companies comply with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s Comprehensive Safety Analysis 2010 initiative, which aims to reduce commercial motor-vehicle accidents. The tools include electronic logs, electronic inspections, speed management, CSA risk scorecards and driving behavior alerts.
Bulgaria’s Vivacom has chosen Clarity‘s Unified OSS platform to improve operational efficiency in its networks in Plovdiv, southern Bulgaria. The solution initially will focus on Vivacom’s fixed-line networks. The platform provides inventory management, service management, ticket management and field service management.
Nuance said it has been chosen by aisle411, a mobile retail navigation service, to provide its voice recognition technology to simplify the company’s interactive shopping solution. Aisle411 allows customers to find products, promotions and reviews, manage shopping lists, share experiences with friends via social media, and get rewards points and mobile coupons. With the addition of Nuance’s technology, users can tap and speak to request the location of any product in a store.
Intrado Inc. announced an agreement with Element Mobile that calls for Intrado to provide wireless Phase I and Phase II E911 services to the carrier.
Inside Contactless and Sagem Wireless said the Smart Muse Mobile NFC Tour guide pilot project debuted at the Teen Gallery at the Centre Pompidou in Paris. For this project, Smart Muse allows visitors to access and share location- and time-specific multimedia information on NFC Wave-Me-enabled mobile phones by waving the device over NFC tags.
