Taipei, Dec. 8, 2010 (CENS)–With sales of its own-brand smartphones surging steadily, High Tech Computer Corp. (HTC), a Taiwan-based, world-caliber vendor of the devices, aims to double the sales to 50 million units in 2011 from an estimate of 25 million units for 2010, according to institutional investors.
To attain the sales goal amid increasingly intense competition in the global market for smartphones, HTC has actively contacted its upstream suppliers of handset parts recently to make sure that material supply will be definitely stable throughout 2011. The firm will hold a global partner meeting on December 9, when over 100 suppliers and related companies are expected to take part in the event.
Accordingly, some globally well-known heavyweights, including Qualcomm, Samsung, LG Display, Microsoft and Google, and Taiwan`s top-caliber handset parts suppliers, such as Largan Precision Co. (camera lenses), Unitech Electronics Co., Ltd. (printed circuit boards), TXC Corp. (quartz crystal), Wintek Corp. and TPK Holding Co., Ltd. (touch panels), Elan Microelectronics Corp. (touchscreen ICs), etc., have been on HTC`s partner meeting invitation list.
Institutional investors noted that to achieve the sales goal, HTC will have to sell at least 12.5 million smartphones worldwide in each quarter of 2011, which will call for a more efficient supply chain and effective management of material supply, manufacturing, delivery and distribution. That`s why HTC has taken the partner meeting seriously, with its CEO Peter Chou to preside in person over the event tomorrow.
Worth mentioning is that HTC is likely to announce its foray into the tablet PC segment soon, and will launch its first model in 2011 as its ace in the hole to drive business operations. So far, the firm has kept completely silent on the product launch plan though.
