Nexus S goes on sale at Best Buy

Google Inc.’s latest direct-to-consumer mobile device, the Nexus S, is now on sale at Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile. The follow-up to the Nexus features a 1GHz Hummingbird processor and the latest version of Android 2.3.
Although Google is trying a different tactic with sales this time around, the device, which is built by Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., is still available unlocked for $530. Customers willing to commit to a two-year contract with T-Mobile USA Inc. can take home the device for $200.
The Nexus S also features a 4-inch contour display and comes packed with near field communication capabilities that Google is touting as it aims to push the envelope further in that space and drive greater adoption.
If the device becomes a hit, the early exclusivity for Best Buy Co. Inc. could be important as the company tries to make up for the big hit its stock took earlier this week after the company reported an overall decline in sales.
