Telecom Personal, the mobile subsidiary of Argentine fixed line incumbent Telecom Argentina, has announced the launch of a trial Long Term Evolution (LTE) network in the city of Cordoba. Trials of the 4G technology, which is expected to initially reach peak download speeds of 50Mbps and upload speeds of 25Mbps, will be carried out in association with China’s Huawei Technologies. The trial LTE network will demonstrate services such as high-definition (HD) video streaming, videocalling and high speed data transmission. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, Personal and Swedish equipment vendor Ericsson carried out a trial of LTE technology in the Puerto Madero area in June 2010.
