Euteneuer to replace Brust as CFO at Sprint Nextel

Sprint Nextel Corp. (S) announced that current Qwest Communications International Inc. (Q) executive Joseph Euteneuer will replace Bob Brust as the carrier’s CFO.
Euteneuer is currently EVP and CFO at Qwest and is expected to join Sprint Nextel following the pending CenturyLink Inc.’s acquisition of Qwest. Brust is set to remain CFO at Sprint Nextel until that time.
Euteneuer previously served as EVP and CFO at XM Satellite Radio Holdings Inc. up until XM merged with Sirius Satellite Radio Inc. in 2008 and before that held various management positions at Comcast Corp. Euteneuer will be based out of Sprint Nextel’s headquarters in Overland Park, Kan.
Brust joined Sprint Nextel in 2008 following a management shakeup at the carrier.
“I am pleased to have a talented executive such as Joe Euteneuer join the Sprint leadership team,” said Dan Hesse, Sprint Nextel CEO. “Joe has an excellent reputation in the industry and has a strong background in a variety of financial disciplines, including finance and accounting, mergers and acquisitions, and financial operations. … I want to thank Bob Brust for his service over the past few years. I can’t overstate the significance of Bob’s contribution to Sprint’s turnaround. He provided discipline and financial leadership that helped to put us on a solid financial path.”
