T-Mobile USA’s Neville Ray to Serve as 4G Americas’ Chairperson

4G Americas, a wireless industry trade association representing the 3GPP family of technologies, today announced that Neville Ray, Chief Technology Officer for T-Mobile USA, has been re-elected to serve as 2011 Chairperson of the 4G Americas’ Board of Governors. The Board also has re-elected Jean-Louis Carrara, Vice President of Business Development at Gemalto to serve another term as the organization’s Treasurer in 2011.

Ray has extensive experience in the telecommunications industry with over 20 years in the design, deployment and operational management of wireless networks in the USA and worldwide. His experience includes all aspects of wireless network design and deployment, including radio planning and optimization. Ray is responsible for the management of the national T-Mobile network in the United States, covering 96 percent of Americans, serving more than 33 million customers and encompassing over 48,000 cell site facilities. Today, T-Mobile’s HSPA+ 4G network is available in more than 80 major metropolitan areas. In 2011, T-Mobile plans to double the speed of its 4G network delivering theoretical peak download speeds of up to 42 Mbps.
Carrara, Vice President of Business Development for Gemalto’s Telecommunications division, is responsible for the deployment of new telecom product lines and service businesses for North America. With a customer network of 450 operators, Gemalto secures over 1.8 billion people worldwide with unique digital identity solutions, offering trusted and convenient products, software and services. Partnering with the leading U.S. mobile operators, Carrara and his team currently focus on Long Term Evolution (LTE), Machine-to-Machine (M2M), Near Field Communications (NFC) and mobile financial service opportunities. Carrara has served on the Board of Governors of 4G Americas for seven years.
