SAO PAULO, Jan 19 (Reuters) – Portugal Telecom (PTC.LS) will sign a contract on Thursday to seal its purchase of a stake in Brazilian phone carrier Oi (TNLP4.SA), according to the Folha de Sao Paulo newspaper.
Portugal Telecom agreed last July to pay 8.44 billion reais ($4.97 billion) for a stake in Oi, Brazil’s largest fixed-line phone company. [ID:nN29109706]
Under the contract to be signed on Thursday, the Portuguese company will gain control of 12.07 percent of Telemar Participacoes, part of Oi’s business, Folha reported, without citing a source for its information.
