Global Crossing | February 2, 2011 | Press Release
Santiago, Chile — Global Crossing (NASDAQ: GLBC), a leading global IP and Ethernet solutions provider, today announced the completion of a major consolidation and upgrade to the information technology (IT) platform of the Chilean affiliate of Sodexo Motivation Solutions, a French multinational corporation.
Global Crossing, together with experts from Sodexo, designed a virtual infrastructure solution that enables the company to more efficiently utilize its existing IT platform. This solution enables Sodexo to decrease its total cost of IT infrastructure ownership – including space requirements, energy costs and IT management – by 25 percent, while implementing greater information security, as well as increased platform availability and standardization. This platform consolidation enables the company to focus more resources on its core business.
“As technology and infrastructure advance, new applications are required, but we need to guarantee the effectiveness of the existing platforms because we continue to use them,” said Arturo Naveillan, Sodexo’s IT Projects engineer. “We were able to achieve this with the services Global Crossing offers.”
In addition to virtualizing and consolidating Sodexo’s IT platform, Global Crossing developed more cost-effective software application licensing processes.
“Our goal is to make our customers’ businesses more successful, and the results achieved through Sodexo’s services demonstrate that we have accomplished this,” said Luis Piccolo, senior vice president of sales for Global Crossing in the Southern Cluster. “We look forward to continuing with this partnership, using IT solutions to enable dynamic and flexible business growth for Sodexo, while helping it control costs.”
Sodexo Motivation Solutions and Global Crossing have had a strong relationship since 2003 through a hosting and housing services provision agreement. Sodexo chose to expand its relationship with Global Crossing because of its ability to address Sodexo’s needs and because of the professionalism of its employees.
“Our services and IT platform are secure with Global Crossing. We know we are working in a controlled environment,” said Naveillan. “Furthermore, by making PCs virtual, greater hardware independence is achieved, allowing Sodexo to develop new products with more flexibility and freedom to act. This is how technology becomes a real business partner.”
