SINGAPORE – MediaTek plans to invest S$120 million to expand its research and development centre and business operations in Singapore, with the aim of moving into the smartphone market, the Taiwanese chip company said on Friday at the official opening of its new office at One North in Buona Vista.
MediaTek, Asia’s largest fabless semiconductor company for wireless communications and digital multimedia solutions, said it wanted to grow its Singapore team to more than 250 in the next few years from the current 160 employees.
The firm is looking to hire engineers to conduct research and development in radio frequency integrated circuit design.
