The Latin American and Caribbean (CALA) region is forecast to add some 52mn new subscriptions in the 3GPP technologies (GSM-HSPA) segment, 4G Americas director for the region, Erasmo Rojas, told BNamericas.
According to Rojas, the 3GPP segment, which also includes LTE technology, is likely to reach a minimum regional market share of 95%.
During 2011, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, Peru and Venezuela will experience significant growth in terms of new 3GPP subscriptions, Rojas said.
The market share for GSM-HSPA mobile connections in the CALA region reached 94% at end-2010, adding 66mn new connections in the year, 4G Americas said in a statement.
