ORLANDO, Fla. – At CTIA in Orlando, Fla., on Wednesday, AVG Technologies announced its new security product for Android tablets, building on the foundation of its earlier smartphone application, The virus protection firm believes tablets are poised to go mainstream and that with all the browsing, loading of personal data and using multiple apps on the go, someone needs to step up and secure everything. Hence, AVG Mobilation for Android which uses cloud based security technology that the firm claims is simple to use, always up-to-date, and light on the device and battery life.
The program can scan apps, settings, data and media files in real time for viruses and other malware, plus if the tablet gets lost or stolen, it can be remotely traced and wiped to protect privacy. AVG also has a nifty backup feature which protects contacts, call logs, bookmarks, messages and installed applications to an SD card, as well as an ‘app locker’ which can supposedly password protect any app on the phone. This, AVG says, is to prevent children from using certain applications or data – but may as well apply to any person you don’t want snooping on your phone.

Omri Sigelman, VP of marketing and products for AVG Mobile Solutions agreed noting, “a mobile device is more personal than your computer at home, as it goes next to your wallet and your house keys and contains relevant data, your contacts, your family photos and memories.”
“AVG Mobilation for Android tablet protects you from the threats that target precious data in mobile devices. It can even help you to locate your device on Google Maps and remotely wipe it if it should get lost or stolen,” he concluded.
