Capital Markets: Salesforce acquires Radian6; PLDT buys Digitel; and more

Tabula Inc., a privately held fabless semiconductor company, announced it has secured $108 million in Series D funding. Tabula will use the new capital to accelerate production of their 3PLD ABAX product family, expand customer and partner support infrastructures, and further next-generation product development to extend their market leadership in the rapidly growing programmable logic sector. The financing was led by Crosslink Capital and DAG Ventures. Existing investors, Balderton Capital, Benchmark Capital, Greylock Partners, Integral Capital, and NEA also participated in this round.

Salesforce.com, the enterprise cloud computing company, announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Radian6, the industry-leading social media monitoring platform, for approximately $276 million in cash and $50 million in stock, net of cash acquired. The transaction is expected to be completed in salesforce.com’s fiscal second quarter ending July 31, 2011, subject to customary closing conditions.

Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (“PLDT”) and JG Summit Holdings Inc announced that their respective Boards of Directors approved the acquisition by PLDT of JGS’s and certain other parties’ ownership interest in Digital Telecommunications Philippines Inc. The acquisition will comprise of 3,277,135,882 common shares in Digitel, representing a 51.55% equity stake. Digitel is the owner of Digitel Mobile Philippines, Inc., which owns the brand Sun Cellular.

M-commerce pioneer MobiCart has just received investment from the Finance for Business North East Angel Fund as part of its $500,000 seed funding round. MobiCart after making its debut at the world-renowned DEMO conference in Silicon Valley, California, MobiCart has gone from strength to strength, helping to fuel growth in this rapidly-expanding market. Last year, MobiCart became one of the first m-commerce app builders, making it easy for online retailers to tap into the growing mobile industry.
