Telecom operators began charging a mobile number portability (MNP) service fee of Bt99 per number transfer yesterday, said Premon Pinsakul, chairman of Clearinghouse Co.
The five telecom operators soft-launched the service free of charge last December. MNP enables mobile-phone users to keep their phone numbers when switching to different networks. So far about 43,000 subscribers have applied for the service.
The five telecom operators are Advanced Info Service, Total Access Communications, TrueMove, CAT Telecom and TOT, which offered the service with the Clearinghouse Co they jointly set up to facilitate the number transfers.
Nokia No 1
Nokia ranked No 1 in a survey of Thailand’s top digital brands and No 3 among the country’s motivating brands, according to a report on the survey conducted by TNS Global Market Research.
At the regional level, Nokia ranked No 2 in the “Top 20 Digital Brands”. In China, Nokia was No 2 in both categories, digital brands and motivating brands. Nokia also ranked as the No 2 digital brand in Malaysia and No 3 in Singapore.
