NSN to deploy HSPA on St. Maarten

Nokia Siemens Networks won a contract to supply HSPA technology to TelCell St. Maarten, the mobile services arm of TelEm Group. The network should be updated this month using NSN’s Flexi Multiradio base stations and its Flexi Network Gateway, as well as its MSC server and other turnkey services.
“Our local customers will be technologically closer in line with their U.S. counterparts in terms of higher end-user expectations and growing data demands,” said Eldert Louisa, CTO, TelEm Group, in a prepared statement. “Nokia Siemens Networks’ knowledge of the TelEm Group network, coupled with its extensive portfolio of 3G/HSPA products and services, will enable TelEm Group to stay ahead in the market and get ready for even faster data speeds.”
TelEm Group is a government-owned telecom company offering wireless service under the names TelCell and TelNet on St. Maarten in the Dutch Caribbean.
