Ronan McLaughlin, director at Ericsson AG, delivered a keynote that hit home on the Swedish equipment maker’s vision for an explosion in connected devices and things.
“Mobile broadband and mobile in general are starting to contribute to the greater wealth to the economy, to society and really becoming a fundamental part of everyday life. This is leading us to some transitions in our industry,” he said.
Our carrier panel dug into the deployment challenges that carriers face across vertical markets, rural markets and the entire nation.
Cellcom CEO Pat Riordan offered some interesting perspectives as a rural operator.
Industry analyst and founder of WiseHarbor, Keith Mallinson, delivered a keynote that highlighted the impact mobile broadband is having on networks and carrier resources. He projected that the demand for mobile broadband will put a strain on networks equivalent to 1,000 times what it is today.
Respresentatives from Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd., SBA Communications Corp., Tyco Electronics and Zinwave Ltd. broke down multi-layer broadband networks. Are these layers making networks more complex or more efficient?
