Tabbedout to showcase mobile payments, pick up one user’s tab

Tabbed OutAustin-based Tabbedout, a mobile payment solution provider, will be at local watering hole Shiner’s Saloon (422 Congress Ave. Suite D) to demonstrate and promote the company’s app to encourage patrons to experience closing out a tab on a user’s phone.

The company will randomly select one customer’s tab to pick-up at 8:30 p.m. for those using the mobile application.

AD2ATX, a community of advertising professionals, students, and enthusiasts will host the happy hour in support of Tabbedout’s initiative. The two groups want to promote that Austin is both a hub for mobile growth and connectivity and a region that encourages early adopters of technology services.

iPhone and Android users are able to download the mobile app, store encrypted credit card information on their device, and then show a unique generated code to their server. The code is sent directly into an establishment’s point-of-sale system, ensuring that a waiter or bartender never has to take or swipe a patron’s credit card. Users can pay through the application at any time.

Tabbedout recently announced the completion of $5.75M Series A funding and a MICROS partnership and Dinerware certification. The company focuses entirely on servicing restaurants, clubs and bars, and captures close to 70% of the full service bar and restaurant industry. Currently available in 90 cities in 20 states, Austin is the headquarters of the company and showcases the company’s largest presence with more than 50 venues using the service.
