DUBLIN, Ireland — The 2011 TM Forum Excellence Awards Winners were announced today, with Chunghwa Telecom, Telstra Corp., Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. and Nokia Siemens Networks gaining recognition for what event organizers deemed “impressive new technologies and achievements.”
A total of 3,500 senior executives from the communications and enterprise sectors looked on as the winners picked up their prestigious awards after having been selected from a record number of entries this year.
Australian carrier Telstra scooped the award for Operational Excellence, for demonstrating “the most innovative and effective use of TM Forum Frameworx to deliver tangible cost reduction, efficiency improvement and operational agility.”
Meanwhile, Nokia Siemens Networks won the award for Solution Excellence, for purportedly delivering “tangible cost reduction and efficiency improvement.”
Chunghwa Telecom scored points for Business Innovation, in light of its “successful new service or business model,” while Huawei won the Leadership Award for its “dedication and commitment to the Forum’s collaboration activities, and the uptake of TM Forum standards and best practices.”
TM Forum said that NSN had won after winning a majority of votes from the organization’s service provider members, who represent more than 85% of all global communications revenues. Telstra’s win was decided by “an impartial panel of leading industry experts.”
“Competition for the Forum’s prestigious Excellence Awards is always fierce. The record number and diversity of the nominations this year are further proof of the continual growing trend of TM Forum’s Frameworx adoption amongst leading service providers and suppliers,” said Nik Willetts, senior VP of communications at TM Forum.
“The era of telecom IT revolution has been unwrapped,” noted Weijie He, Huawei’s president of BSS/OSS Product Line , upon collecting his award. “Huawei will continuously, closely and further cooperate with TM Forum, and dedicate to provide the leading and customer oriented IT solution to CSPs, help them to achieve ‘Smart Operation, Efficient Support’ and sustainable business success,” he added.
