Following a 300% jump in traffic from tablets in the last six months, Google Inc.’s (GOOG) AdMob has launched a series of new ad formats tailor made for larger mobile devices. The HTML5-based ad formats are built for high-definition screens and will use features like touch, tap and swipe.
AdMob also announced a new upgrade to its House Ads project, which offers improved campaign management, new ad formats and better ad targeting options to developers looking to promote their own products withing their mobile apps. The company is also planning to release a new feature that will give mobile app developers a mediation feature to select the best ad from multiple competing ad networks.
AdMob will celebrate its first year at Google on Friday. During that period, traffic on the AdMob network has grown more than three and a half times and its receiving more than 2.7 billion ad requests every day. AdMob’s network now reaches more than 80,000 mobile apps and sites.
“The last year has seen incredible growth, but it’s just the beginning. We believe that the products we’re announcing today will further accelerate the growth of mobile advertising, enable marketers and developers to rapidly grow their businesses and help to fund more great mobile content and apps for users,” wrote Clay Bavor, product management director of mobile display ads.
