Microsoft HealthVault finally goes mobile

Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) has taken its HealthVault mobile. Microsoft has built client libraries to develop standalone HealthVault applications for Windows Phone 7, iOS and Android. The software development kits (SDK) for Windows Phone 7 are available now and iOS and Android will be available in a few weeks. Users who visit the HealthVault website on their mobile devices will also see an optimized user interface.
“HealthVault is finally a first-class mobile citizen,” Sean Nolan, the chief architect of the Microsoft Health Solutions Group, wrote in a blog post announcing the news.
As Nolan put it, mobile “makes complete sense for health, where virtually all meaningful activity happens away from our laptops: office visits, emergencies, workouts, daily glucose testing, sleeping, you name it.”
Microsoft released more details about the new features on its developer blog and Nolan hinted that the next project for HealthVault will be around family safety.
