Service2Media raises $10M in funding

Application platform provider Service2Media said it received $10 million in round C venture-capital funding from Prime Ventures and the Private Plus Fund. CEO Geert Kolthof said the funding will enable it to expand its partner network, add staff, and increase sales and marketing efforts, as well as grow its App Lifecycle Platform, M2Active.
The company, whose platform enables applications to be written once and deployed on any mobile device, works with a variety of companies focusing on the media, finance and utilities’ vertical markets. Customers include CNN, Al Jazeera,Rabobank, Abu Dabi Media Co., Liberty Global/UPC and Reed Elsevier.
The company has offices in the Netherlands, United Kingdom, Spain, United Arab Emerites and in San Francisco. Kolthof said the company plans to open an office soon in New York as well.
Enterprises need to manage their applications throughout their lifecycles. As employees bring more diverse devices into the marketplace, and consumers embrace new devices, applications need to be able to work across all devices, from feature phones to tablets, Kolthof said. Writing an app once and having it work on any device is increasingly important to businesses because it helps them reduce costs and expand their customer base.
