The marketing has finally started, but will it convince the unwashed masses that a Hewlett-Packard Co. TouchPad is the tablet to choose?
HP certainly seems to think so, releasing its latest marketing video of the TouchPad’s abilities on YouTube, showing off a whole host of “seen it before” or “no-great-whoop” features.
Multitasking? Yes, other tablets have that. Support for Flash and HTML 5? Yes, last we checked, there are plenty of tabs that boast that too. A superior gaming experience? Says who?
Oh, but the HP TouchPad does have that nifty “touch to share” feature … mighty handy for the millions upon millions out there who own a Pre 3 handset. Anyone?
Also, we may be nitpicking here, but why would one want to transfer a recipe from one’s tablet to one’s smartphone? Why? What utility is there in that?
In all fairness, though, it looks like a decent looking device, with some average capabilities and standard features. Albeit running WebOS, which has probably as many (or as few) apps as Windows Phone 7 and BlackBerry OS. So, for the price – 16 GB flavor for $500 and $600 for 32 GB – it still seems a bit of a stretch.
Not convinced? Check out the video and see what you think. Comments and opinions are most welcome.
