More than 1M Brazilians switch operators

More than 1.36 million Brazilians switched telephone operators but kept their original phone numbersin the second quarter. According to ABR Telecom, the association that manages number portability operations in Brazil, 37.4% of the total referrals were users exchanging fixed-line operators and 62.6%were for mobile devices. In the same period last year, ABR Telecom registered 1.08 million requests tochange operators.

Portability started in Brazil in September 2008 and since then 10.55 million fixed and mobile phoneshave exchanged carriers without changing the identification numbers.
