Spending on IT services in Brazil totaled R$ 21.075 billion (US$ 13.3 billion) in 2010, up 9.14% compared to 2009, IDC reported. Businesses continue to adopt technologies including convergence, governance, virtualization and server consolidation, mobility, outsourcing and cloud computing, among others. “In this scenario, IT services becomes increasingly important, and companies are supporting their business plans in IT,” said IDC in a prepared statement.
Outsourcing and integration increased 11.49%, IDC said, while development services grew 9.65%, IDC noted, showing that the market is becoming more mature.
In terms of verticals, finance and manufacturing companies remain the biggest IT consumers, and represent almost 50% of the total IT market. In general all segments showed good growth, but the services segment, which grew by 12.7%, showed greatest growth. Healthcare and logistics are also growing.
For this year, IDC believes that IT services market will reach double-digit growth compared to 2010. Outsourcing deals will continue to be demanded by the market with more emphasis on hosting and hosted application services infrastructure management, which should grow more than 15%.
About cloud computing adoption, IDC said that many executives are still analyzing the service. Therefore, the consultant firm believes 2011 may be a year of instruction and education in terms of cloud, rather than the year businesses adopt cloud computing. IDC also predicts mobility, analytics and social media will grow this year.
