Telefónica Peru confirmed its plan to invest US$ 1.5 million in the country during its financial results. According to a statement, investments from Spanish Telefónica group increased 13% in first half this year compared to the same period a year ago.
However, its revenue during the first half of 2011 dropped 0.7% to US$ 691 million. The carrier’s fixed-line business dropped 14.8%, while long distance calls fell 32.9%, compared to the same period in 2010.
During the quarter, Telefónica Peru reached Cusco with fiber optical. It’s a project called “Fiber Optic of the Andes” aimed at providing high-speed Internet access in the city.
