Dell has declared its five inch Streak tablet officially dead, though the device disappeared from shelves already back in early July.
The freakishly large phone or terribly tiny tablet – depending on how you look at it – appears to have been simply too confusing in terms of its digital identity, and it’s value to consumers seems to have been eroded by the emergence of the larger seven inch and rumors of a 10-inch variety in the Dell Streak family.
“Goodbye Streak 5, it’s been a great ride,” declared a banner up on the Dell website on Thursday. The device had been on the market for just one year. It’s bigger brother, the Dell Streak 7, has been on the market since February of 2011, but has also not seen tremendous success thus far, despite its fast NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, due to an outdated version of Google’s Android.
Will Dell continue it’s losing tablet Streak, or will the third release be the charm? We’ll have to wait and see.
