Brazilian Internet broadband reaches 45.7M in July, almost 30M are mobile

In Brazil, number of Internet broadband access connections surpassed 45.7 million in July, up 56.72% compared to July 2010. According to the monthly balance sheet prepared by the Brazilian Association of Telecommunications (TeleBrasil), since the beginning of 2011, 11.2 million new connections were enabled.

The assessment takes into account the fixed broadband access and mobile modems including fast Internet connection and third-generation cellular (3G). Mobile broadband grew 80.1% during this period, from 16.5 million in July 2010 to 29.7 million last month. The number of modems in July totaled 6.9 million, an increase of 26.2%, and 3G phones, which allow Internet connectivity, have already exceeded 22.8 million, more than double (106.7%) of total recorded in July 2010.

Fixed connections rose 26.3% in the last 12 months, from 12.6 million in July 2010 to 16 million last month.
